Reed Daley is the owner and editor-in-chief of The Daily Nibbler, a prominent mouse newspaper featured in An American Tail: The Mystery of the Night Monster. He is loosely inspired by the New York World's owner/editor Joseph Pulitzer, and his name is a pun on the phrase "read daily". Under his management, the Nibbler has become one of the most prominent newspapers in New York, in part due to his tendencies towards "yellow journalism". He previously served as a war correspondent during the American Civil War.

He is voiced by Robert Hays.

Personality and Appearance

Reed Daley is dry witted and sarcastic. As a journalist, Reed favors attention-grabbing headlines and sensationalist stories over strict adherence to the facts, which has earned him some criticism. He has a secret crush on his star reporter, Nellie Brie, with whom he frequently argues. He has been known to act spitefully towards Nellie, such as when he assigned seven-year-old Fievel Mousekewitz to be her partner during the Manhattan Night Monster investigation. However, he is also willing to put his life on the line for her and sustained serious injuries defending her from a cat attack. Following this incident, he confessed his true feelings for Nellie and proposed to her. Conversely, Reed seems to be oblivious to the feelings held for him by his own secretary.

Reed has black hair, brown and tan fur, and prominent ears. He wears a red vest, white long-sleeved shirt, and yellow pants.
