She is born in September 29, 1942 as Madeline Gail Wolfson. Her parents are Bernard B. Wolfson, and his wife, Freda (née Goldberg) in Boston, Massachusetts. She was raised in a non-observant Jewish. When Kahn was two years old, her parents divorced, she went with her mother to move in New York City, NY. In 1953, her mother married Hiller Kahn, which he adopted her and she changed her name to Paula Kahn. She had two half-sliblings Robyn and Jeffrey (one from her mother's marriage to Kahn and an another one from her father's second marriage.
She has married to John Hansbury in October 1999.
She has played Gussie Mausheimer in An American Tail.
Illness and death
Madeline Kahn was diagnosed of ovarian cancer in 1998. She had underwent her treatment. Her cancer has spread rapidly. She died from cancer on December 3, 1999 at the age of 57. She is cremated A bench dedicated to her memory was erected in Central Park by her brother Jeffery Kahn and her husband John Hansbury.
